How it works
PlaystyleDNA reads your public Chess.com stats — no login, no password, no data stored. It computes four trait scores (0–100) from real signals in your game record:
- Aggression — your bullet/blitz game share and win rates in fast formats
- Tactics — your puzzle rating relative to your OTB rating
- Patience — your rapid/daily game share, draw rate in long games
- Consistency — how stable your win rate is across formats over time
The trait that stands out most relative to your own average — not just the highest absolute score — determines your archetype. When two traits are close, you get a blend archetype.

Your playstyle is determined by your actual game history — time-control preferences, win conditions, opening variety, and consistency. PlaystyleDNA reads your public Chess.com stats and computes four trait scores, then assigns you an archetype (The Tactician, The Berserker, etc.) based on your dominant trait.
What are the chess playstyle archetypes?
The five core archetypes are The Berserker (aggression), The Tactician (tactics), The Marathoner (patience), The Metronome (consistency), and The Polymath (versatility). Three blend archetypes — The Attacker, The Strategist, The Swashbuckler — appear when two traits are closely matched. All are positive identity labels, not ratings.
How does PlaystyleDNA determine my chess playstyle?
From your public Chess.com stats: bullet/blitz share for Aggression, puzzle rating delta for Tactics, rapid/daily share for Patience, win-rate stability for Consistency. The most distinctive trait (relative to your own average, not a universal scale) determines your archetype. No data beyond what's public on Chess.com is used.
Is my chess playstyle fixed?
No. It reflects your current game history. As you play different formats or change your approach, the trait scores shift. Check back after a period of focused play to see if your archetype changed.
Does knowing my playstyle help me improve?
It can give direction. High-Aggression players often benefit from studying mating attacks; high-Patience players from endgame technique. Low Consistency often means blunder-prone positions — fixing that may outperform opening study. PlaystyleDNA gives an honest current read, not prescriptive training advice.
